My friend asked me to play Among Us with other couples of people. For the first time, I ignored him since I planned to play Subnautica and review it. And now, here I am reviewing Among Us with a pretty high rating on it. The game was made in 2018 by a Redmond developer called InnerSloth, the company that made The Henry Stikmin Collection. Among Us is a great party game, especially times like this where it is hard to meet someone face to face.

The game doesn’t have any story whatsoever. You start your game by spawning in a facility full of a to-do list of tasks. As a crew guy, as a team, you have to guess who’s the imposter. The game is similar to Werewolf where players have to guess who’s the imposter but combined with Dead by Daylight where the imposter have to kill all the crew guys before the crew guys finish all the task and win the game. Being a good liar is a special perk for being a good imposter.

There’re 3 types of tasks: short task, normal task, and long task. All tasks are design by the developer and cannot be changed whether just open a locker or filling up a gas tank. For the first, some of the tasks are confusing but after a while playing the game, it becomes easier to understand and help the crew guy finish the task faster. The game starts to feel more difficult and fun as time goes by where players fully understand how the game works.

The art style is simple and minimalistic, solid color with a bold black outline and a shadow. The sound of this game is also minimalistic. As I notice, there’s no background sound at any point of the game, except the menu. This put the player's help to think of who the imposter is, or as an imposter, how to bluff and lie. I kind of disappointed that the developer only creates three maps to play, if there are five or seven, I would give a higher score.

For me, this is a party game where I can relax and chill with my friend, while also blaming each other on who’s the imposter. Playing with a group of friends is very recommended since you and your friend can join a discord server to discuss. Where the public server has a minimal amount of communication since it uses a chat system. After all this quarantine time, I’ve never felt this much bonding with friends until I played this game.
