Celeste Game Review
Updated: Apr 20, 2021
This Indie Game Developer called mattmakesgames is insane. Celeste, the Award Winning 2018’s Game Award brought you an experience you never felt before when playing a 2D Platformer. It was a strange roller coaster feeling of sadness, happiness, scared, and intensity that I never experience from other games before.
Each character has its own moment. From an old lady giving Madeline, the main character, a word of wisdom to a good friend Theo who met Madeline while climbing the Mountain. There are not as many characters in the game since the setting is on the Mountain, but each character has their own characteristic and role to support Madeline to climb the Mountain.
From 8 hours of gameplay, I look at Celeste has fun and enjoyable platforming challenges and sometimes found a hidden entrance for the strawberry. Madeline’s controls are easy and simple but the developers making it harder throughout the game with new mechanics like trampoline and such.
Celeste combines two different art styles, there's an environment with pixel art and you have some of like simple character drawing and it works pretty well. Celeste's musics and sound effects are one of the best I’ve ever heard since the release of Undertale. The musics and sound effects always hit you in the heart and making you feel like you inside the game climbing the Mountain.
The game itself is perfect with 8 chapters and hundreds of rooms to complete. I believe all ages can complete the game, it’s not hard or easy, the game is perfect for me. You won’t regret buying the game and also Celeste worth some recognition, sadly only several people know this game exists in South East Asia.
