Minecraft Dungeons Review

At last, the game that I’ve been waiting for is finally here! It is not Minecraft, but it is Minecraft Dungeons. A dungeon crawler based on the Minecraft universe developed by Mojang Studios and Double Elevens release a couple of days ago. You go hack & slash mode through the horde of enemies with multiple weapons and enchantments.

The story is simple and easy to digest, an evil Arch-illager got a powerful artifact that can summon zombies and create an evil empire. He used the power to seek revenge on the village that kicked him out. With his power, he can create new mobs and destroy those against him. Your job as a hero is to free all the captured villager from the illager and defeat the Arch-illager once and for all.

This dungeon crawler game is heavily inspired by the Diablo series, where the game wants you to keep grinding to get a better weapon to progress into even higher difficulty in the game. It surprises me that the game offers a lot more grinding than I expected. The boss battle in this game is epic, but I expect a different attack move from the boss. For example, when the boss is two-thirds of his health, he gains a new attack or something.

The art style is pretty similar to Minecraft but less blocky. The glow of the new block and item drop from mobs is perfect compare to the original Minecraft. The ambient of the world helps the flow of the game where you or your squad is alone in the middle of a dungeon. The music helps me to recognize if there’s a boss battle ahead of me or not, sometimes it also surprises me when there’s a surprise boss battle right in front of me.

I love Minecraft, and that’s one of the reasons why I love this game. Minecraft Dungeons is fun for every player from beginner to veteran dungeons crawler. I‘ve played this game nonstop since I bought it even when I’m playing in single-player mode, I just can’t wait to explore the Dungeons with my friends. I have a request for Mojang to let us apply our skin into Minecraft Dungeons. Overall this game worth checking out for everyone especially for Minecraft fans.
