Rocky Rampage Review

I just realize that Joyseed Gametribe, an Indonesia game studio, release their own smartphone game called Rocky Rampage a week ago. I was busy at that moment, so I’ve completely forgotten about it. Thankfully, a couple of days ago I finally remember and tried the game. With Mr. Boulder and Pebble, I’m having a fun time grinding and playing this game.

The game starts with a comic style story with Mr. Boulder just won a Fashion Show. Mr. Boulder loves his wonder pants and the next morning, he saw his wonder pants are gone, stolen by his competitor, Her Sharpness Empress Clipper. With his sidekick Pebble, they chase and destroy to get his wonder pants no matter what. It is a simple story, but I feel the comic style only needs a one time screen to explain the story, rather there's two-time screen.

The goal of this game is to reach as far as you can with only a single dash by a bull, and when you got launched, you tap to jump as you go forwards. There’re skills and collectible where you can use and upgrade to boost you more to reach as far as you can, like boom bird, kangaroo, launch power, etc. I like how the developers make a big wall in a certain milestone that needs to be destroyed by your current speed, if you didn’t reach the threshold speed, you won’t get through the big wall.

The cartoon style character makes the game better. It’s Joyseed’s signature art style which they apply to all the games they made. The simple cartoon art also makes it playable for a potato phone like mine. When Mr. Boulder got really fast, the music helps you with the adrenaline feeling and creates an intensity. The music also creates a heroic vibe where you also feel pump and exciting to rescue your pants.

The game is addictive. But sadly, the game didn’t last long, where there’s only one chapter with 5 levels on it for now. Joyseed will make the second chapter soon but I can’t wait to play the new chapter rather doing the same level repeatedly. I highly recommend downloading this game since it is fun, free, and you can play at any time during this quarantine period.
