Stardew Valley Review

Updated: Apr 20, 2021

Stardew Valley is a game where you want to relieve your stress and have a calm gaming experience. There’s no stress involved in this game except for not having a specific item for your Community Center. This alternate series of Harvest Moon games was created by an independent game developer called Eric Barone AKA ConcernedApe.

The game doesn’t tell you a lot in the beginning, it wants you to progress the story by involving in events, talk to villagers, and find secrets. There are even random events where you can meet someone to begin a cut scene and progress the story. Each character has a unique interaction and different liking with the player. Sometimes I need to open the Stardew Wikipedia to look up their liking, otherwise, it will take forever to look for it.

I play Stardew Valley in two worlds for like in total 100 hours and I never felt bored. The game is similar to Harvest Moon, but it adds some crafting, mining, and other mechanics inspired by other games. The main gameplay is farming and that’s what shines about the game. Farming is easy and the game helps you with it by giving you a story quest, but it needs a lot of experience to create a beautiful and organized farm. I realize that Stardew Valley’s art style is similar to Terraria’s art style, even Eric also mentions that he inspired by it. You can see that ConcernedApe respects pixel art and he applies it to all aspects of the game. The music in this game brings out the vibe of farming in the village and it comes with different music every season, buildings, and events. The game has over 70 tracks for each different scene.

The game is for everyone who enjoys Harvest Moon but taking it to the next level. Stardew Valley offers you a great calm and fun gaming experience. I personally enjoy it playing with my friends since ConcernedApe always improving on the multiplayer aspect of the game, but it all depends on preference. I recommend buy it and support the creator because it’s insane to imagine that this game is created by a single person.
