Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 3 Review
Never notice that I turn into a movie/TV series reviewer, but I'm still going to review other video games, just not right now, not in a mood to play a new game. Since I was being a Jurassic Park fan, I would like to review the Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Netflix series that just released a couple of days ago on 21st May. I've been following the series since season one, so I recommend watching the first two seasons before reading this so we are in the same page.
A little introduction to the series, it is an animated Jurassic World TV series on Netflix. The story is related to the original movie, where it takes place after the event of Jurassic World. I try my best not to spoil too much of the story, but I'll probably going to mention a couple of plots from the first and the second season since it was a while ago. It is better to watch the previous seasons so you can understand what I'm saying.
The story started with the group trying all their ways to get out from the island and not to wait for help to come. They finally found a boat on the shore as their ticket out from Jurassic World. As they collecting resources and about to leave the island, they stumble across new hybrid dinosaurs and the secrets of Doctor Wu. I like how the series dives deep into the secrets of Doctor Wu experimenting on their hybrids, and how the hybrids escape from the containment and almost destroy the remaining dinosaurs in the park.
The horror when the group finally found the secret and encounter with the hybrid itself, the experience suddenly becomes a real Jurassic Park experience where life and death situation comes into play. The group will encounter the hybrid a couple of times after they found out the hybrid dinosaurs and the hybrid become a big main role in the series. But at the end of the day, the series didn't show much how the hybrid really going to screw the group. Even the hybrid is the star of the season, but I think they can improve by how the hybrid is destroying their hopes to escape the island, not just haunting.
After all dinosaurs' encounters and problems the group faces, they slowly started to talk to each other and show their personalities. They talk about how after they left the island everything will be back to normal and they will never see each other again since they have nothing in common besides running from dinosaurs. It is a quite complicated story for an animated series but I like how they manage to solve it.
Throughout the season, there's a couple of callbacks to the original Jurassic Park and how the group manages to explore the remaining of Jurassic Park. Some of the chase and encounter scene takes place at the iconic Innovation Center from Jurassic Park so some movie reference can be visible. You can see how Jurassic Park's corpse becomes after a couple of years of not being touched and how the plants have overgrown the buildings.
There're a couple of new dinosaurs introduce in the season, like the hybrid itself and also the fan-favorite, Blue. Yes, Blue is coming to Camp Cretaceous and she brings a quite big role to the season and appear in some of the episodes. Of course, every season there will be more improvement with the animation overall. The dinosaurs feel smooth like what dinosaurs suppose to be and I can see some of the improvement with the shadow and shading.
So far the direction of the third season is good and I like how the series connected to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at the end of the season. So this is my little review about Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 3. I surprise that the series will continue to the fourth season when I was expecting the series to end. I'm really curious how they manage to create more stories since I feel like there's not enough to explore more on the island.
